What Is The Impact Of Irvingia Gabonensis On Weight Loss?

The agony of the weight loss plateau is one hurdle every weight loss enthusiast would like to by- pass, unfortunately because of the way the body is wired it is difficult for anyone on a quantity restriction diet to avoid this challenge. Controlled food intake nine times out of ten would force the body to go into self-preservation mode. Recent findings suggest that certain supplements may help the body maintain leptin levels during dieting; among them is irvingia gabonensis. Irvingia gabonensis is a nut bearing plant found mostly around central Africa where it is sometimes referred to by the locals as wild mango. In Africa the fruit is used primarily for day-to-day sustenance but recently it has been shown to be highly effective in weight reduction programs. In a 10 week study, participants who were given daily dosages of irvingia gabonensis were found to lose pounds, inches and had lower systolic blood pressure when compared to those who received a placebo.


These findings are encouraging and signal a hopeful sign to everyone who wishes to control their weight naturally through proper dietary control. It appears, at least initially, that irvingia gabonensis has put an end to the dreaded weight loss plateau. It is reported that within the ten week period persons lost as much as 28 pounds; way beyond the average 5 - 10 pounds at which the plateau normally occurs. Moreover, the pejorative impact of leptin also appears to have been negated by irvingia gabonensis given that participants in the study burn fat rather than storing it. This either indicates an increase in leptin levels or leptin sensitivity both of which are helpful in burning fat.


Irvingia gabonensis supplements have been shown to impact weight control management positively; however caution must be taken when adding this or any other supplement to your diet. As always do consult your doctor for advice.
